The National Trust appears to employ some rather unimaginative wardens down in the Derbyshire Peak District.
It's pretty obvious to me that aliens pinched the missing capstone from Horn Cross!
If there are no signs of it's removal on the ground they should look to the skies instead. Especially as that area in Derbyshire is such a well known UFO activity area.
It's probably being used as a paperweight by some alien spaceship commander now
The Beeb's both arms blood pressure story should also mention that some doctors don't understand this either.
Last year I ended up having to accept an appointment with a different doctor at our local health centre than my usual one. It's standard practice to take over forty's BP at the beginning of a consultation, regardless of what you've come to see them about.
Now her consulting room was laid out differently from my regular GPs' so I ended up sitting the other side of her desk, which in turn meant she used the opposite arm to take my BP than my usual GP.
Voila! This reading was higher than we were both expecting, especially as I am on medication for high BP; also I had just passed my seagoing medical where my BP had been okay.
This finding sort of skewed the consultation away from what I had come to the medical centre for.
It was only towards the end I recalled that I normally offered my other arm with "my" GP and that at my occupational medical the doctor had done both arms. So I suggested she try the other arm, where we were both amazed to see a normal reading.
Now she was young, new to the practice and didn't look as if she'd got much experience behind her. So her reaction to this was along the lines of - "I've heard something about this ... can't recall it ... I'll look in to it & Come back tomorrow."
Well both of us must have been digging on t'internet that night as we were both quoting various websites to one another the following morning!
But the biggest disappointment was that when she took my BP in both arms it was boringly normal. Since this incident I always insist the doctor does both arms now.
I do have a little theory about the above incident; it involves a young and attractive female doctor, cleavage and a dirty old man!
I'm not a great fan of gardening, in fact I often think the best answer to this onerous task is ten tons of ready-mixed concrete!
However, I have been forming an idea about dong some guerrilla gardening over on the stacks around here. These are the former colliery waste tips that have been greened over. Which is the problem with them - they're just green!
So in an attempt to add a bit of colour to my grandson's and mine ambles over these I have been doing a bit of research on t'internet and found this website. Whilst the Daily Tee has given me a list of suppliers where I might find some exotic plants to use.
Well I'm off to the West Country for a couple days, the blog will be coming with me, so if you're out on the highways today let's hope the traffic keeps moving smoothly.
Take care.
