Friday's edition - A watery one!

One has to wonder if with all it's banking problems that the Spanish Government will be tempted to sell any or all of the gold coins it has recently reclaimed from Odyssey and the wreck of the Nuestra SeƱora de las Mercedes?
Perhaps they will secretly end up in German bank vaults as collateral for Spain's bail-out before the month is ended!
The whole story of Odyssey is a fascinating one, I look forward to hearing of it's future operations, I should also imagine our Treasury will be as well. The seabed is certainly littered with many more valuable wrecks awaiting discovery many of them British ones.

"... mediocrity bordering on stupidity"
I think Argentina's President Cristina Fernandez description of Cast Iron was pretty astute for a foreigner.
Especially as she watches our Cast Iron led coalition decimate our Army, continue with our madcap carrier building policy and knows we're still mired in Afghanistan.
Also our merchant navy fleet is now so packed with foreigners that we would be hard pressed to find any British sailors to crew a support fleet.
So all-in-all, if I were a betting man, I'd say the Falklands will be lost when the Argentines make their move.

I'm a bit sceptical that we will in NW Europe see any gains in the shipping market due to China's bank rate cuts.
Most of the trade in raw materials for China comes from locations very distant from these shores. Whilst the economies of here and across the Channel stumble along I don't think we'll see container ships full of Chinese goods docking at our ports in the near future.

Well the European Monsoon hasn't hit us oop north just yet, but the weather outside is making it difficult for me to find something for my grandson and I to get up to today!
